L Log Directory

About & Editorial Policy

Log is a directory of the web — a field notebook maintained to record what is out there, organised so it can be found. The project began from a simple observation: the web is large, active, and hard to navigate without a map. Search engines provide one kind of map, oriented by popularity and recency. Log provides another — a static, browsable index organised by subject, where every entry has been placed by a human rather than an algorithm. The 22 sections of Log cover the breadth of the web as we have found it: from dental practices and legal firms to gaming platforms, travel operators, and industrial manufacturers. The Uncategorised Specimens section exists because the web resists clean classification; some of the most interesting entries are there. Listing in Log is free and open. Site owners can submit via the add page; submissions are reviewed before being added to the relevant section. The process is straightforward: a working URL, a title, and a short description are all that is required. The notebook is not finished. New entries are added as submissions arrive, and the catalog grows incrementally. If you operate a site that belongs here, the field is open.
